Resiliency Pt1: For those who knew what went down with me in Langkawi 2 days just before Ironman Langkawi..it was really just me and my bike. I don't remember frame by frame how I fell, but I remember those wild dogs, more of em, didn't pounce on me. Its the sheer self-defense reaction which led me to lose balance and slammed the tarmac on my right shoulder. Taking my not-so-light-weight & the bike's weight on my shoulder joint. I don't recall the pain, but I remember being stuck.Oddly enough, NONE of the car drivers which I held behind in traffic came out from their car. I couldn't get up. On lookers remained as they are. The car behind me started to move. I quickly stopped the car (how? Don't ask me now..). I was afraid the wild dogs would come forward, again or attack. I finally called out for help. Not sure what I called the Indian chap who was on a motorbike next to the car behind me. :Sir! or brother. I can't recall. But i think sufficient enough for him to come & help pull me up. He initially wanted to pull my right arm.. i said no..so he pulled my left hand.I got up, and the traffic moved. Fast forward 3 weeks later.. now.. I am healing. Still going for physio. That was quite the episode. Episodes pass & I hope I will heal beautifully.In the next 2 weeks I am expected to deliver a webinar for a corporate company on mental resilience.I was told to 'keep it within the work setting'. As an action researcher&psychologist, I feel this isn't doing the concept justice. As a community, at some points we have failed to build resiliency among ourselves, our youths..and now our kids. So it bewilders me how on earth can I deliver this topic which is so pertinent to ALL aspects of life to just within the work framework. It is a skill not isolated to work and whatever knowledge, practise, exposure and life events which has occured to you, and have shaped and toughened up your mind. If you don't have this is your life, how the heck would you be able to apply and relate this to work. This skill is not inherited. But it can be learnt. (TBC)
Me looking these pictures thinking life can be simple and great ! Sometimes too much spoils the broth, and worse still takes away your attention from what truly matters and what truly moves you to become the better version of you.
