Anti-immigrant– My take on the recent Malaysian HR ‘policy’ on non-Malaysian cooks

I was responding to a video by Project Nightfall. Please watch the video FIRST to gain the context of where I am coming from with this post.

Malaysia is not falling behind too… discriminaton against cooks who are not Malaysians…?? Wow, what a criteria/ ‘tool’ for selecting and hiring. I suppose they failed to research that job specs/job definition doesnt entail nationality, but requires cleanliness quality to be kept at all times. What, hire Malaysians and all will be good…? Go ask restaunters out there why they hire non-Malaysians? I guess they will justify rationally why. A lot of things !

This policy, to me, is very lop sided and has not received much scrutiny AND research before being passed. Pre-maturedly passed. I hope it will receive much resistance from those passionate about free and equal working opportunity for all (as long as you habe ur papers legit– that is given). Work hard and you will be awarded by merit and nor your personal background including your ethnic and demographic origin.

This was apparent by the Finance and also Education minister who both did pointed out look at their work, what they have achieved, and what they can potentially bring. Being religious not a crime. So is being other nationalities (who are legitly making it in Malaysia). Why the double-standard now?

If cleanliness is the measurement, please go check your measuring tool and see if you have the right tool, if you are measuring correctly and if you are measuring at the right places. Do you have you data correct, and confirmed?

A certain Dr Fiq in his posting mentioned something along the same line, abou cross-sectional studies and how findings CANNOT be generalised to ALL. His posting here.

To me, a policy should be a sustainable one –meets the needs of the present and doesnt compromising the future needs. And it should be fair when applied across sectors.. first you begin with f&b.. then what next…? Common elected Malaysian administrators.. PROGRESS. And Malaysians, y’all better work hard to EARN. In the free, equal and fair world, executiveness are for the weak. I am sure there ARE other ways to manage cleanliness at F&B outlets and we don’t have to go this far and low to manage that.
