Assalamualaikum and greetings everyone.

We struggle to find the truth or explanation to everything occurrence in life, the good and more so the bad. We attribute difficulties as test and above which we have to solve. Like what I have hear before, this life is to be managed, and not to be complicated.

With knowledge comes wisdom, and with experience comes better judgement. This Saturday,  Omar Suleiman, an American Muslim scholar and speaker will be here in Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd July 2017 to deliver the topic mentioned above ‘Through the Fire – Journey of Salman the Persian’. Partial transcript from video :-

When you find the truth what are you willing to do for it?

Many times when we are convinced about something intellectually and we find what we should be doing , and the path that we know that Allah Subhanallah Ta’ala wants us to take, all these obstacles suddenly starts to pop up. Either its the person that’s  giving us the religion is not living up to the expectations we had of them, or it society, or its family or its geography. Whatever it may be, many obstacles pop up. Difficulties in our own lives that will stop us from actually going forth with that journey.

When you look at Salman Al Farisi R.A. ,you have a man that went through every single hoop of fire that’s  imaginable in order to arrive at the truth. There are so many things that happened to him on his journey that would have stopped most people on the first or second obstacle but Salman R.A. continued, and  continued and continued for decades  until he found Prophet S.A.W   and realised that ultimate truth he was looking for.

Now, when you look at the story of Salman R.A. usually you read this hadith which is very powerful about him going to different cities in order to find the Prophet S.A.W  but what type of religion did he belong?  What was the Christianity like in Persia that he initially subscribed to? What was this Christianity that he was finding in different parts of the world that was disappearing ? What was going on the Roman and Persian empire at the time? And then finally at the personal level,  what are some of the lesson we can take from Salman R.A. and not being deterred when we face similar obstacles to the truth …. ”

Excerpt from event page:-

WOULD YOU SEEK THE TRUTH… DESPITE THE COST?

Imprisoned by his father…

Betrayed by the scholarly authority…

And enslaved in a strange land…

All obstacles on the arduous journey of Salman the Persian.

This is the story of one man’s struggle to find the truth.

Relive the moments as Salman journeys from Persia to Syria to Arabia as a Zoroastrian priest, a dedicated Christian, and finally a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Every path to truth is met with obstacles. Most experience just one or two, whereas Salman encountered them all.

  • Corrupted teachers and scholarly leadership
  • Lack of resources
  • Face of doubt and insecurities
  • Alienation and isolation upon accepting the truth
