Hey,
How long is the uphill run before stairs begin?
Thanxx 🙂
Hi. Around 300-400m approximately. And you will still need to run up the escalator before hitting the stairs. All the best for the run.
Regards, missjewelz
Thanks! Sounds better (i thought like 2-3km hehe).
This is my first towerthon (or any stairs-challenge!) i usually just casually join roadraces.
Should i be going on nonstop up the stairs? Or u recommend taking breaks every few floors?
Really look up to you;)
Hi there, thank you for the reply and question. There are landing spaces between the stairs where you can rest. These landing spaces are flat (not stairs) and that is usually where the water stations are. Avoid stopping in the middle of the stairs as to not bloc any runners’ way or even getting trampled yourself 🙂 take it easy and make sure you catch your breath (remember ‘deep and slow’) all the way. Jangan tercungap-cungap eventhough you may (especially towards the end) can’t help it 🙂
The organizer will also be opening the stairs for trial run. be sure to join that one. you can go to towerthon’s website to check out the details.
Thank you again ! missjewelz
Looks fun!
it is !!
how long is the whole distance??? =)
hi Xiang. i think you can check at the event website. I am not exactly sure the distance. what i know is that the participants will be running up, vertically ,up to 382m above sea level. 🙂
read your entry regarding tips for the towerthon and i feel like wanting to try it out for the first time. i know this might sound like a lame question but just want to be sure about it. is it ok if i were to simply brisk walk or walk during the event? currently been brisk walking for 40-45 mins 3-4 times a week. just want to test myself. hope it’s sufficient enough to finish the race but then again judging from the claustrophobic effect it might make me tired out before i reach the top. really hope for some input from you. thanks
Hi Nadia. Yeah, I don’t think it is a problem for you to walk. But to be safe, try checking with the organizer if there is any cut off time for participants 🙂 mind you, the first 200m ++ of the race is a hill which you can choose to slow jog/brisk walk. and in case you didnt know the stairs will be opened to the participants to do their trial/practise run. Maybe you can give it a go and time yourself walking up ! Hope this helps. TQ 🙂
